Inspired by the Safari in Africa, the Cebuano business tycoon Michel J. Lhuillier opened the 170 hectare Cebu Safari and Adventure Park to the public. As of the moment, it is considered the biggest zoo in the Philippines. From its opening date, this enormous animal kingdom has never run out of locals and foreign visitors.
Cebu Safari and Adventure Park houses a hundred more species of animals such as the African Lions, White Lions, Orange and White Tigers, a family of Giraffes, beautiful fine stripes Zebras and other Antelopes family, friendly Camel, cute Llamas, hopping Kangaroos, loads of mouth-opened Crocodiles busking under the sun, all kinds of flying and non-flying Birds, different species of Monkey family, and a whole lot of more.

With the Cebu Safari’s 800Php entrance fee, you are entitled to see the different Animal Pavilions such as:
TIGER TURF
where Tigers, Blackbuck, Deer District, Peafowls, and Peacocks can be seen

ORANGUTOWN
where Orangutans, Celebes Macaque, Gibbon, Lemur can be seen

SAFARI OUTPOST
where Giraffes, Meerkats, Swans, Ducks, Pelicans, Geese can be seen

MACAW AVIARY
where Blue and Gold Macaws, Green Winged Macaws, Scarlet Ibises, Philippine Eagles can be seen

AFRICAN SAVANNA
where Zebras, Wildebeest, Blesboks, Waterbucks, Cranes, Impalas, can be seen

WHITE LION TRAIL
with an additional 200Php, you can see up-close a rare mutation of the Southern African Lion

I was fortunate enough to be one of those visitors to ever try their newly opened attraction, the White Lion Trail. We were grouped in ten and got on a glassed enclosed tram. I was a bit scared and thrilled knowing that we are about to enter the cage of the “King of the Jungle”. However, on the other hand, I was very excited for myself to where this adventurous self of mine might lead me. Sigh. We waited until the huge gate open and our driver drove us in. Minutes later, the rare South African White Lions appeared on our sight. Driving inside their cage and seeing them up-close was an experience to behold.

Aside from the huge fauna species this Cebu Safari and Adventure Park has, it also showcases a beautiful and wide variety of floras. Michel Lhuillier’s Flower Garden is one of the best in the country according to many, and I cannot agree more to that.

The rainbow floral paradise is decorated with different orchid family, well-structured floral arch, terraced flowers of different varieties, and even various sizes and species of succulent plants.

Adventure Rides
For those adrenaline junkies, worry no more as this Cebu Safari is not just your typical wildlife safari situated in the mountain of Carmen, Cebu. It also offers various Adventure Rides such as Obstacle Course for ATV Ride, Asia’s Longest Gravitational Zipline, Spider Walk, and Sky Bicycle.
My adventurous self really wanted to get on and try that Zipline and Sky Bicycle but I was not properly dressed for these sorts of activity. Probably next time. Thus, I let it passed and went on to watch the amazing Birds Show at the Safari Stadium.
Bird Show
Almost all the visitors of the park were gathered at the Safari Stadium for the Bird Show. Everyone, from all ages, was entertained by the talented birds of different species; the bird that can spell out the animal name; birds that can do math, count, sing, and that bird who teaches humans to throw garbage into the trash bins. It was very entertaining and educational at the same time.
It was my first time to see a bird show of such kind, and I found myself very ecstatic and applauding for every bird’s act in that 30 minute duration of the show.

When visiting Cebu Safari, plan your trail and schedule your visit to each Pavilion so you will not miss any of the animal show as they are timely bounded.
Coming to Cebu Safari and Adventure Park was one of those spur-of-the-moment-last-minute-decisions I am usually prone to. We originally planned to visit Bohol for a day and so we were at the Port of Cebu half past five in the morning, but the next ship to depart Cebu was almost mid-day and it is such a shame if we went to Bohol for just couple of hours. So we ditched the planned and Cebu Safari came in. Moments later, we were in a taxi that we privately hired and negotiated a 2,500Php for this whole day excursion to the town of Carmen, north Cebu.
It was around half past six in the morning when we departed Cebu and drove up north. The ride was smooth and easy. And after an hour and a half of driving, at 7:35, we reached the town of Carmen, Cebu. But the driving didn’t end there; we needed to drive for another 20 to 25 minutes more from the town proper to get to the gate of Cebu Safari and Adventure Park.
At exactly eight in the morning, we reached the entrance of the animal haven. We thought that we were the first few visitors to be there but we were wrong. There were bunches of people patiently waiting on the line and waiting to be entertained by the Cebu Safari humble and smiling staffs. The entrance lobby was packed but I was surprised with the flow of the registration. Staffs were alert and very professional. In no time, it was our turn.

After paying the entrance fee, you are given a brochure that serves as your map of the entire Cebu Safari and Adventure Park. Take time to plan your route and once ready you can hop on any of the park’s trams waiting at the opposite side of the ticketing area. However, for your own safety, before getting into the Wild you are briefed by the friendly and energetic staffs with the DOs and DONTs of the Park. Just follow their rules and rest assured that you can exit the safari without a missing body parts. Just kidding! Well, who knows?

Aside from the huge population of the world-class floras and faunas inside the park, Cebu Safari also has top notch amenities to provide comfort and convenience of its patrons and so to cater all visitors’ needs. For those young and young-at-heart, you will surely enjoy Cebu Safari and Adventure Park as they have everything for you.

My Cebu Safari experience was one of those wildest adventures I ever had. I had a chance to meet and encounter some animals that I only saw on TV and books before. Spending some quality and educational time in the wild was so much fun.
There is something we can learn from these living creatures. So whenever we see them in nature, let’s show some kindness and compassion.
